Under the influence of international financial crisis, the olive oil consumption went down slightly, however, the incise rate still keeps 25% per year. The edible fats industry giants begin to sell olive oil include Lu Hua Group and Zhong Liang Group. According to the customers’ statistics, recently years olive oil import’s rate has up to 100% in China.
The experts in the olive oil industry say that in nowadays there are around dozens of olive oil brands in the market, above 50% from Spain, others from Italy, Greece, Turkey, and the Mediterranean countries. The global olive oil’s production is only 2,000,000 tons per year, but China needs at least 17,000,000 tons edible oil per year. The authority said the olive oil price is quite high, so it still belongs to the high-end consumption in China. If the olive oil price in China can be reduced to the origin sources’level, the consumption of the olive oil in China equals to the half of the global’s consumption. That means China will become the largest consumption market in the world. Olive oil has beautiful titles of: the intestines’cleaner, the queen of plant oil, the king of the edible oil. Olive oil will become the popular edible oil with its healthy and safe quality. China will be the largest olive oil consumption market in the world.
